We are a group of medical oncologists with extensive experience in the management of all forms of cancer. We utilise patient focused methods to develop treatment strategies aimed at maintaining quality and improving quantity of life.

Access to a trained specialist medical oncologist is available 24 hours per day seven days per week. If your oncologist is not available suitable coverage will be provided.


Dr Allan Zimet

Dr Allan Zimet completed his oncology training in Melbourne at the Peter MacCallum Cancer institute. Subsequently Allan spent 2 years doing a postgraduate fellowship in oncology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Since returning to Melbourne he has been involved in medical oncology both in the Private and Public hospital spheres. He currently practices at a number of Private Hospitals including Epworth, John Fawkner and Warringal Hospitals. From 1985 to 1992 he was a full-time oncologist at the Repatriation Hospital and currently attends both the Austin Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Clinic.

Allan has his major interests in the treatment of gastrointestinal (colon, stomach, oesophageal and pancreatic) cancers, lung cancer, lymphoma, myeloma and breast cancer as well as central nervous tumours

He aims to provide compassionate honest care with a patient focus, whilst maintaining quality-of-life and improving quantity of life.


Dr Ross Jennings

Dr Ross Jennens

Dr Jennens graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne and completed advanced training as a specialist medical oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He works in private practice at Epworth Richmond, and also consults at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
He treats a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with a particular interest in lung and breast cancers, brain tumours and gastrointestinal cancers, such as bowel cancer, stomach and oesophageal cancers and pancreatic cancer.
His focus is to ensure patients get optimal care at each stage of their cancer journey. This includes receiving the latest medical treatments as well as access to clinical trials of new medications at both Epworth Healthcare and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Dr Jennens works closely with dietitians and psychologists, as holistic care includes assessing diet and exercise, and the psychosocial implications from a diagnosis of cancer, for both the patient and their family.


Dr Yen Tran

Dr Yen Tran

Dr Yen Tran is a medical oncologist who completed her medical training with the University of Melbourne at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Her specialty training in medical oncology in 2007-2008 was at the Austin and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. Subsequently she worked under the supervision of Associate Professor Ian Davis and Professor Johnathan Cebon in 2009 as a medical research fellow at the Austin hospital participating in clinical and research work in multiple pivotal international phase 1 to phase 3 clinical trials in all areas of oncology.

Dr Tran’s main areas of interest include: uro-oncology, neuro-oncology, breast, and lung cancer. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Medical Oncology Group of Australia. She takes an active role with the University of Melbourne as a clinical tutor for medical students and advanced medical trainees. She currently holds a consultant oncology position at the Ballarat base hospital.

Dr Tran firmly believes in a holistic approach to patient care whilst maintaining efficiency, compassion and honesty.


Dr Surein Arulananda

Dr Surein Arulananda completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2009 and subsequently obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Medical Oncology in 2017.



He is currently completing a laboratory based PhD at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute in malignant mesothelioma.

Surein has been the recipient of several awards, including a prestigious International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Academy Award, He has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals, such as JAMA Oncology and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. He has presented his work at national and international conferences.



Surein has his major interest in thoracic malignancies, melanoma, gastrointestinal oncology and genitourinary oncology.



As a clinician-scientist, his passion is incorporating the latest therapies into treatment plans for patients. He balances this with a holistic approach, which aims to provide patients with care that optimises their quality and quantity-of-life.
